Wooden Doors

Wooden doors are incredibly popular, and not just because they have been around for a long time. Unlike UPVC doors, whose size cannot be altered once built, wooden doors have a certain amount of flexibility on top of their versatility. They can also be painted or stained to suit your property and preferences, bringing that natural wooden warmth in line with your desired look and feel.

The appeal of wooden doors in homes goes beyond the natural beauty of the material, of course. Wooden doors are natural insulators of heat, meaning they are not significantly affected by temperature, but also that they do an excellent job at keeping the heat in (or out of) a home, making that home more energy efficient. And, with quality timber, wooden doors will last for a very long time with very little maintenance.

While there are many benefits to wood, there are some disadvantages, mostly in relation to water resistance. Poorer quality wood will absorb moisture more readily, and can rot because of it. In bad cases, the wood can also suffer from insect infestations. Quality timber will help to mitigate this problem, but that tends to be more expensive than non-wood alternatives.
